この伝承は言い伝えで現在も語られている
「堤を何度築いても崩れてしまうために人柱をたてるということになり、村はずれに住む一人住まいの娘に白羽の矢が立ったが、その娘は人柱になる前夜に舌を噛んで自死した。」という伝説が残っている。
